Happy Unicorn | Tamara Buckler

Hey Hey Flutterby Friends,

Can you believe February is here already and all the kiddos are back at school?!? It's certainly been a busy couple of weeks at our place, so when I sat down to create this page, I really just wanted to get a bit crazy with colour, texture and lots of embellishments.  Luckily my little miss is a bit cray cray, so she gives me good material for when I want to get messy!

I started this page with a sheet of 12 x 12 white cardstock (which ends up as 8.5 x 11.5), and started by running some texture paste through the Little Big Love Stencil. I wanted to work with the colours on the ice cream box,  so I watered down some Flutter Colour Paint in Grape Soda, Raspberry Punch, and Green Limousine and added it to the page using the packaging technique. I also used a watercolour crayon to add in the deeper blue.

I then fussy cut my pics and mounted one of them with foam to provide a little bit of separation from the background. I selected from the 'We run the World' Filler Cards a number of cards that had a watercolour or whimsical feel about them, and that fitted with my colour scheme, and cut them into strips to run behind the photos. I also slotted in the "Best Day Ever" Fussy Cut that I backed with the same papers, and I tucked in a frame from the 'We Run the World' Photo Cut Outs.

I used a Die Cut from the 'Flawsome' collection and I fussy cut the word "unicorn" from an Everyday Etc to create the title. I have to say I was stoked to see the word "unicorn" pop up because someone in my house is a little obsessed, hence the crazy face about the Unicorn Gaytimes :)

To finish off the layout I added in a heap of die cuts, flair buttons, and wood veneer pieces from a variety of ranges, as well as some white tiny sticky quotes.

The final layout is a little bit chaotic, but I think its a bit fun, and suits the crazy we've got going on. Sometimes you've just got to let that shine, right?!? Plus I hope its made you smile!

Unleash Your Inner Awesome | Tamara Buckler

Hey Hey Flutterby Peeps!

Happy Monday, I hope you all had a fab weekend and managed to squeeze in some scrappy time. Today I'm here to share with a layout using a mixed bag of Flutterby products. I have to say it is a real credit to Anita that all of her ranges work so well together, it makes using up your stash so easy and enjoyable!

I actually started this layout by choosing my photo, which is not always something that I do. For some reason this pic makes me sing 'you spin my head right round, right round' and this became the inspiration for the circles in the background. I traced in pencil around various round objects to get the lines, and then went all scratchy and doodley with a sharpie. To add the colour, I watered down some FlutterColour paint in Grape Soda, Raspberry Punch and Tropicana Teal, and used the packaging technique to roughly add them around the circle pattern.

This colour combo came from the Everyday Etc Card 'Unleash your inner Awesome' from the Creative Chaos range, as I new I wanted this to be my title. This also inspired the small triangles that run around the circle as the background of this card features triangles. I cut these by hand, and glued them down in the areas of corresponding colour. The photo is matted with more Everyday Etc Cards from various ranges, but still sticking to these 3 main colours.

The main embellishment cluster to the left of the photo features a saying from another Everyday Etc Card in the Creative Chaos collection, which I fussy cut off the card. The cluster is backed by a frame from the 'Mad About You' Everyday Etc Cards, and features a Flair Button from the Sentence Enhancer range.

I was also able to include some Page Tabs from the Fur-ever Friends collection. This was a total win, because we aren't cat people, but this pic is of my daughter getting ready to play the Cheshire Cat, so 'Crazy Cat Lady' worked perfectly!

I added a second cluster to the top right of my circles, using a White Sticky Quote, a Flawsome Die Cut and some enamel dots,  in order to balance off the page, and with that it was done!

Thanks for stopping by today and checking out my layout. Let me know if you have any questions about creating this background, it was a fun one!!

Hey Babe | Tamara Buckler

Hey, Hey Scrappy friends,

It feels like a long time between posts, my life has been super busy lately as we have been moving house.  I've had no internet and no scrappy space for weeks, it's been torture! But I'm back into it and today I have my latest layout to share with you.

I mixed some of the our gorgeous Flutter Colour Paints in Raspberry Punch and Tropicana Teal and applied it kind of randomly through the gorgeous 'Flawsome' stencil. I love how this give a beautiful soft ombre/sorbet sort of feel to the background.

I matted the photo with some of the 'Mad About You' Filler Cards and popped the whole lot up with some fun foam, just to separate it a little from the background.

I then fussy cut this title from a 'Mad About You' everyday Etc Card and popped the word 'babe' up on some foam tape to lift it up of the background. I love using the Everyday Etc Cards like this, so many ready made titles in a pack!

I didn't need to do too much else to make this page beautiful, and that's why there is only a small cluster of embellishments to the right of the pic featuring of course a Flutterby flair badge and a page tab from the 'Mad About You' range. I then added some black ink splatters to lift up the photo and tie in the title, and that was it!!

Super happy with this one, and super dooper happy to be back in the scrappy saddle!

Have a fab day!

Big Loves,

Rock Chick I Tamara Buckler

Hey Hey Scrappy Friends,

Happy hump day to you all!! I'm back again today to share another layout, this time showing off some grungy rock chick style!

I started this layout with some Kraft Cardstock and then got messy with some gesso on the background. I then ran some Whipped Spackle through the amazing new 'Flawsome' Stencil, and then used the packaging technique to add some Red ink spray for some colour. I than added some black ink to the Whipped Spackle and passed that through the 'I Heart You' Stencil, and finished the background off with lots of red and black ink splatters.

I then set about adding my paper layers behind my photo with 'Xtreme Teen' and 'Happy Together' Everyday Etc Filler Cards. I used a couple of fun pieces from Charms Creations, and then layered some more Flutterby goodies over the top, including this awesome wood veneer piece from 'Xtreme Teen'.

My title features the 'Rock' Die Cut from the Xtreme Teen collection, I also tucked some of these down the left side of my photo cluster for added interest. I also added some of the new white sticky quotes to the top left corner for a little added attitude.

I love all the textured grungy goodness on this page, and hope you do too!

Thanks for stopping by.

Embrace your flaws | Tamara Buckler

Hey Hey, Flutterby Peeps,

I'm back again today to share with you another layout that I created with the awesome Flawsome range!

I'm loving that there is a softer, more pastel side to this range. My amazing team mate Belinda Spencer has been showing this so amazingly in her last few layouts (check it out here & here!). So I've stepped over to the softer side and given it a crack!

I've mixed up some of FlutterColour Paint in Raspberry Punch, Aquamarine Dream, and Sunshine Yellow with some Whipped Spackle to make the beautiful pastel colours that I have run through the always fabulous 'I Heart You' stencil. I then layered up some strips of the Flawsome Everyday etc Filler Cards, as well as matted my photo, to create some beautiful pastel layers behind my pic.

To create this title I fussy cut the sentiment from one of the Flawsome Everyday etc Photo Cards, and popped it up on some foam dots for extra impact.

With so much texture and pretty colour going on, I didn't need to do much to embellish the page. I bought in some of the Flawsome Wood Veneers, Page Tabs, and a Mad About You Flair Button. And then finished things off with some White Tiny Sticky Quotes, and some beautiful enamel dots. Too easy!

Thanks for stopping by to check us out, and I hope you have lots of scrappy good time planned for this weekend!

Big Loves,

You are loved...Dumbass | Tamara Buckler

Hey, Hey Scrappy peoples,

Welcome back to the Flutterby Blog today! This weekend seems to be a busy one for lots of our scrappy friends and DT chicks, as they are off enjoying a retreat. I myself am still recovering from the epic long weekend that was #createbythelake2017. Seriously good fun, lots of scrappy time and side splitting laughs with like minded people. The BEST!

I'm back on the blog today to share one of the layouts that I created at retreat. I stumbled across some 8.5 x 11.5 cardstock while I was there, and I can tell you, I am in love with this size!! Its so cute and compact, but the dimensions work in so many ways.

I went pretty hard with the gesso on the background here, and then mixed up some texture paste with the Raspberry Punch Flutter Colour paint through my fave 'I heart you' stencil. I then did the same with the gorgeous new 'Little Big Love' stencil and the Grape Soda Flutter Colour Paint. I then went a bit free range with Aquamarine Dream Flutter Colour Paint, and then watered down some Bahama Blue to splatter all over the page.

I altered one of the wood veneers from the new 'Flawsome' collection with the Aquamarine Flutter Colour Paint, and then inked around the edges to grunge it up. I layered up the 'Flawsome' Everyday Etc Filler Cards behind my pic, but didn't pop my photo up as there is already so much dimension on the page.

To balance off the page, I added some page tabs from the Sentence Enhancers and Mad About You pack. As well as the rad 'love who you are' flair from the Flawsome range.   Finishing touches were the Neon Enamel Dots, as well as some Die Cuts and Snippet Strips.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my layout, I hope you're having awesome scrappy adventures!!

Butterfly House | Tamara Buckler

Hey, Hey, Happy Saturday!

I'm up today to share a layout with you sharing the new 'Flawsome' collection. This collection is so full of super empowering quotes, and is all about self love and appreciating the beauty in our everyday.

When I saw the beautiful butterfly quote in Everyday Etc Cards, I knew I had to scrap these photos of my girls at the butterfly house in Coffs Harbour.

I started by smearing some Green Limousine FlutterColour Paint on the background using an old store card, and then splattered some Orange paint all over the place. I then mixed some Aquamarine Dream FlutterColour Paint with some texture paste and spread it through the new Little Big Love Stencil. Such a random colour combo, but I think it works!

I added my title using some Thickers, and then added a Snippet Strip and altered a Flawsome Wood Veneer heart with paint and kindy glitz to balance the top of the page.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my page! Hope you have an awesome scrappy weekend!

Big Loves,

My best work l Tamara Buckler

Hey Hey, Happy Friday!!

I don't know about you, but I often feel like I have so much to learn, and there are so many new things to try, in our arty farty scrappy world. Over the past few weeks, I have been trying to use paint differently on my layouts, including using some different brushes and textures, to create different effects. Some of them have been total disasters, and some have worked out surprisingly well!

Today, I'm sharing with you one such layout. I started this page with a wide bristle paint brush and some paint (including our awesome Flutter Colour Paint) and wanted to create a grid like pattern. I wasn't overly happy with this effect, but kept working on it and added some texture paste through the Bubble-O-Fun stencil... getting better. I then decided to grunge it up and squirted the Black Mayhem Flutter Colour Paint up and down the page, and added some ink splatters. Much better! I love the contrast and the texture!

The photo that I wanted to use on this page was also a very busy one, so I didn't want add to much more colour and texture to the layout. I matted the photo on some vellum and raised it up on some kids foam. I fussy cut 'art' from a Creative Chaos Everyday Etc card, and placed it in the white space of my pic, I love the way this looks!

And then because I had so much going on, I went very minimal with the embellishments. Just a few Purple Sticky Alphas in my title, and a small cluster with a flair, a die cut and a snippet strip.

This pic of my fam bam makes me laugh! We discovered these giant furry walls at the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane, and it always make me think of the movie 'Get him to the Greek'. Have you seen that one? So funny!

I'm not sure what it is about a giant furry wall that makes it art, but I guess the same could be said about my scrapbook pages! But, at the end of the day, I think they are art, and I guess that's really all the matters!

Anyways, I hope you've all had a fun week and have some scrappy time planned for the weekend!

Big Loves,

Cool. Whatever, Mum. by Tamara Buckler

Hey Flutterby peeps,

Do you ever start a layout and it ends up completely nothing like you had planned? That's what happened with my layout today, but I have to say that I think it may have been a happy accident!

I started by using texture paste through the 'words of wisdom' stencil on 12 x12 cardstock, dried it with my heat gun and then applied watercolour.  I'm not sure what I was thinking, because the watercolour smudged away the not quite dry texture paste, and I made an awful mess! I then decided to trim down the (not-quite-dry) paper and ripped the crap out of my page! Gah!

But as I said, happy accident, as I ended up with a piece that fit perfectly onto a 8.5 x 11.5 page, and I really love the grungy but feminine edge this piece gives my layout. Plus I think it sets the mood perfectly for this pic of my less than impressed pre-teen miss!

I added in the awesome die cuts from the 'Xtreme Teen' range to create my title. So freaking accurate! Anyone else sick of hearing this from their kids??

I layered up my photo with some 'Xtreme Teen' filler cards, and I used a Flutterby Flair button, and another die cut to the left of my photo for added interest.

A couple of the wood veneers, and some ink splatters and my page is complete and saved from total disaster!

Thanks for stopping by to check out my layout! Why don't you share you scrappy disaster stories in the comments?

Tam x

Rock Star by Tamara Buckler

Hey, Hey, Flutterby peeps!

Back again to share another layout with the awesome new 'Xtreem Teen' range. There are so many great bits of inspiration in this range, and I started this layout with the title in mind - which I fussy cut from one of the Everyday Etc cards.

I started this layout with a generous slather of gesso, and then spread some ColourBlast texture paste through the super cool MacQueen Stencil, and then some watered down Flutter Paint to colour the background.

I then layered up some cards from the Xtreem Teen filler cards behind the cheeky photo of my girls, and mirrored this layout with the fussy cut title.

With all that going on in the background, I only used a few embellishments. I love how the wood veneer pops of the page, and how the ticket and flair button really tie in with the theme of the page. A little phrase from the 'Mad About you' Bits and Bobs, and some enamel dots was all I needed to finish it all off.

Thanks for stopping by again today to check out my layout. Make sure you are sharing your layouts with us over at Flutterby Inspiration HQ.

Danger: Pre-Teen Brain | Tamara Buckler

Hi everyone!

I am so super stoked to be here today to share my first layout for the Flutterby Design Team! I was so lucky to come on board just before the release of the new 'Xtreem Teen' range because this stuff is the goods!

I was inspired to use the Matrix stencil with this extreme close up of my nearly 12 year old! I swear the code for her brain is somewhere in the Matrix!!

The stencil fit almost perfectly across my 8.5 x 11.5 page. Silly me has run out of texture paste (sob!), so rather than colouring on top of the texture paste like I normally would, I added my colour first. I used some Bahama Blue and Green Limousine FlutterColour Paint, as well as some Dylusions paint in Purple. I used a lot of water here to get a watercolour effect. Once this was dry I sprayed over the Matrix stencil with Black Dylusions ink, and added lots of black splatters. I love the washed out effect this adds to the page.

I then layered up Everyday Filler Cards behind my photo, which I adhered to the very right hand side of the page. To this I added some Page Tabs from the Xtreem Teen range, the sentiments are perfect. I seriously love these tabs, I think I nearly use them on every page I make!

I then fussy cut my title from the Xtreem Teen Everyday Etc. Cards, and added some purple Sticky Alphas and glitter Thickers. To finish off the page I added a Flair Button and some Enamel Dots.

One of the best things about the Flutterby ranges are that they allow me to express my sense of humour! I mean, who isn't scared of a pre-teen brain?!? 😀😀😀

Thanks for stopping by to check out my first layout with the Flutterby Design Team. Make sure you check out all the inspo over at Flutterby Inspiration HQ. Can't wait to share with you again next time!

Big Loves, Tam x
