August Guest Designer - Amy Prior 'Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe'

Welcome to our August Guest Designer.....
AMY PRIOR!!!!!

We are thrilled to bits to have Amy guest DT
for us this month. I have always been a fan of Amy's style & use of colour - plus she's a pretty awesome chick too ;)

"Hi there! My name is Amy Prior and I am a 30 year old wife and a mum, living in Kincumber, Australia. I have lived here on the Central Coast of NSW Australia most of my life and could not imagine living anywhere else. I have always been a creative soul and I find it hard to live without my paintbrush in hand or covered in some kind of medium. My 2 daughters Mia & Chloe are usually the focus of my creations because I just love to scrapbook and preserve precious moments for them. My dear mother has a box full of lost memories I call them. My entire collection of childhood photos, is stored inside a shoe box randomly mixed up and if I ever ask my mum when a photo was taken or what occasion has been captured, she is always blank. No record and her memory failing, I was always destined to scrapbook and I started journaling at a very young age, including photos, magazine cuttings etc. I hope to share my love for this beautiful Mixed Media world that I live in, with all of you. If I ever post something that has not been explained properly, PLEASE comment and ask me questions. I am always happy to answer and add more steps to make your creative journey easier."

Yes You Can | Sue Plumb

Hello Flutterby peeps!
It's Sue Plumb here with you today to share my latest layout using the brand new 'No Excuses' range. This range is bright, bold, fun and real - everything that you have come to love and expect from Flutterby products!

I took a bit of a different look at this range from the way it is intended - deciding instead to use it to document moments and thoughts about my son, and his personal determination in the face of the physical challenges he faces.

I started my layout by swiping some Flutter Colour paint across cardstock using an old credit card and then splattered some magenta watercolour paint on top of it to help add some depth. Next, I used part of the 'You Got This' stencil with some Faber-Castell Whipped Spackle, to add some texture and dimension to my background by replicating the words from the title around the page.

I used one of the 6x4 cards from the 'No Excuses' Everyday Etc cards as the main focus of my layout, cutting it up into strips to use as my title. I also used one of the coordinating 'No Excuses' Filler Cards as a mat for my photos. I love how the bright pop of magenta helps draw the eye into the focal point of my layout.

I used two of the coordinating 'No Excuses' Page Tabs tucked in behind my photos; as well as a flair button (from set 406) that I nested on some messy cotton thread. I also used two wood veneer pieces - the new 'Be Awesome Today' and the 'Remember Bubble'. I coloured each of them with a white Posca pen and then used a baby wipe to rub the colour back a bit to allow more of the grain to show through.

Finally, I added one of the new 'Blackboard Sticky Quotes' and some 'Snippet Strips' around my page. They were a quick and easy way to reinforce the subject of both my photos and journaling.

A few black splatters, a couple of staples and some simple stamping and my layout was complete.
If you haven't checked out all the recent additions to the Flutterby store, then head over HERE to see what's new.
Til next time, happy scrapping! X

Well 'Beyond The Page' - by Anita Rodway

HEEEEELLLLLLOOOOO!!!!
It feels like forever since I have popped in & done a blog post myself! So what news, well a few weeks ago I hosted the very first Flutterby retreat - 'Create By The Lake', it was a bloody fantastic!
Such an awesome bunch of like-minded creative peeps, who made the weekend fabulous.
I just recently announced dates for next years & all spots were filled in LESS THAN A WEEK?!
I am still in shock LOL. I can't wait :)

So here's a couple of projects I've done.
This first one is my FAV!!! Flutter Colour paints, is not
JUST for scrapbooking ;) I grabbed are pair of these
canvas sneakers from Big W to put my own personal
spin on them...

I pulled the laces out & taped up the areas I didn't
want paint on with washi tape.

I then begin to 'swoosh' & 'splat' some Flutter
Colour Paint over the shoes,
making sure I give it a little dry with heat gun
in between colours. Just so the 'runs' in the paint
don't take off LOL :P

So much colour & motion in these :) It's at this point
I was praying they'd turn out ok (ha ha ha)

I then let the dry near the heater inside. Being winter/cold miserable weather, I decided at best to give them a
couple of days drying time - just to be sure!

To finish them up, I used a Posca Paint pen to
doodle some faux stitching & lines to break up
all that black.

They got their maiden voyage at the Flutterby retreat.
Super comfy & my personality to a tee!!

I love this photo of Fiona & I, so I wanted to create

I've used lots of NEW goodies! Totally love the new
'Creative Chaos' collection - inspired by my tribe
of fellow creators.

'JUST CREATE & MAKE PRETTY SHIT'

I even surprised myself....besides those little flicks

ALWAYS mixed media central LOL

No One Ever Drowned in Sweat | Krisy Podolak

Hi Flutterby Lovelies.
I know your probably over my "No Excuses" gym/exercising layouts but this range has been the kick I needed to actually take process photos and get them documented.

For this layout I again took inspiration from one of the Everyday Etc cards from the "No Excuses" Range.  The reason I do this is because it makes it easier to match the background but also because the lighting in the box I train at it very ordinary so the photos are often a bit dull so this is the pop of colour they need.

To start the layout, I used the smooching technique using the Flutterby paints and a bit of water to make them a bit more fluid.  This doesn't dilute the colours very much but changes the consistency so they are easier to spread.

To follow the diagonal print on the card I used one of my roller stamps on an angle to mimic this. I then added the card, Photo and embellishments.  I used up most of my fluro enamel dots on this page and I didn't want them to get lost amongst the busy colour of the background so I doodled around them to make them stand out.  To tie the page together, I doodled around the edge as well as around the photo and Everyday Etc card.

I finished the layout with a Charms Creation Arrow under a flair button.  The blue of the arrow makes the flair button a focal piece of the layout.

There isn't a process video this month.  I went to a recent retreat last month with a plan to get on top of my Design Team commitments and this was one of the layouts I created.

I will be back next month with some more things I have been working on.
Krisy xx

My Favourite (Art Journal Page) by Kylie Cornish

I love using Flutterby Design products in my art journal.

I think what it is, is the Everyday ETC Cards have the best quotes/sayings, and don't get me started about the Flutter Colour Paints. I just absolutely love them, I love the grungy feel they give to any page or layout for that matter.

Here I used the Flutter Colour Paint - Monochrome Set to not just squirt on my page, but also use an old loyalty card to add lines to my paper strips.

To help embellish my page I used some Wood Veneer. I just love the

'Confetti Circles'  and the 'Small Stars' I really do like the detail on the small stars.

And then the final piece to finish the page off is the saying! Anita just knows what to say on these Everyday ETC Cards and you cant go wrong with using the 'PARTNERS IN CRIME' Everyday Etc Cards to express how you feel!

So there you have it an Art Journal page about how I feel when I hang out with my good friends.
Got to love a "good" stomach ache!

Cheers

'What An Awesome Night' by Lauren Hender

Hello Everyone!!!

When we think of bold bright colours and bold sassy statements the only brand that comes to mind is the wonderful Flutterby Designs.

My daughter recently danced at a Bollywood Night. It was so much fun, all the bold dancers and brightly coloured dresses made the night fabulous. As you can see in one of the photos below my daughter was mesmerised.

In this layout I have used the Flutterby Designs photo tabs, everyday etc cards, labels, enamel dots, phrase stickers and a flair.

Have fun scrapping!!

Lauren

"Beautiful Book Worm" by Sharmaine Kruijver

I love it when a plan comes together,
Don't you?
I've been hoarding the very cool book flair
And waiting to create this page of our book worm.

I used the new mini stencils with some coloured texture paste

Added some older Flutterby products
To some new
(Neon enamel dots and Everyday Etc Cards)

And even found the perfect Flutterby Quote Sticker to add to the page.

Yep #happy indeed!!

So pull out your stash,
Find the thing you've been hoarding
And create something today.
