November Guest Designer - Natalie May 'Mini Album'

'Mini Album'

The 'Mad About You' Everyday Etc cards were perfect for showing off a heap of photos Natalie had from the cruise that she went on earlier this year so she decided a mini album was in order!
Starting with some white cardstock cut to various sizes, she created textured backgrounds using Gel Medium and Texture paste and a variety of Flutterby Stencils. Once they were dry, the Lindys Stamp Gang colours were added leaving the stencil images standing out on the backgrounds. Add a little stamping … a few punched out words, some vellum, acetate and the 'Mad About You' Everyday Etc cards and you have a bright little album!  The use of the stencils gives each page an individual look and keeps the focus on the photos!  The veneer hearts take on the colour of the Magicals beautifully and are the perfect finish for the pages
For the cover of the album, Nat filled the Sticky Notes packaging with gold pebbles and created a ‘shaker’ behind the Polaroid frame … too easy!

November Guest Designer - Natalie May '&'

'&'

Natalie was inspired by the '&' card from the 'Mad About You' Everyday Etc cards when creating this Art Journal page.
She started off with some layering of paint, added some hot pink 'On the Plus Side' stencilling followed by some 'Got Letters' stencilling in white Liquitex paint.
Adding some punched out ampersands and some stamping created an element of dimension before cutting out the Ampersand Everyday Etc Card and adding it to the page.
The project is then finished off by the addition of some Dina Wakley Media tape and some deli paper.

November Guest Designer - Natalie May 'Love'

I super duper thrilled to introduce this lady as this
months Guest Designer,
although she needs no introduction...
Natalie May

"Hi there. My name is Natalie May.
I’m lucky enough to be a full time paper crafter and I couldn’t be happier! I teach around 15 classes a month in SA and design chipboard for Imaginarium Designs. I’m also a 2016 Scrapbooking Memories Master, an Intermediate Certified Copic Designer, Educator for Lindy's Stamp Gang and love everything inky & colour based. Life is busy to say the least.
One of the things that keeps me interested and teaching is that I love to create in all styles.  As much as this industry likes to ‘Pigeon Hole’ people, I believe I am a versatile artist – I regularly teach not only scrapbooking layouts but also Cards, Mixed Media Layouts, Paper based Layouts, Vintage & Ancestry Layouts, Beginners scrapbooking & card classes, Big Shot classes, Art Journaling, Abstract Canvas Art, Copic Beginners Classes plus Kids classes, Birthday parties and whatever else I can come up with.
As an Educator & Design Team Member for Lindy Stamp Gang, I especially love to create with their products and educate people about mediums, textures and general products.  I love this industry … the opportunity to teach a new technique…. Meeting so many amazing people…..and to be able to CREATE everyday is quite a blessing.
You can view more of my work at …
www.happydaks.blogspot.com and find me on Instagram under happydaks and Facebook as well."

'LOVE'

Natalie is all about colour and loves creating custom backgrounds!
So for this page, she started by choosing the awesome photo taken at the Brisbane Expo this year, framed it with the edges of the MAD ABOUT YOU photo cards and then created her background to suit!  Here are a few simple steps used to create the background
– super easy & super quick!
She finished the layout off with a few Sticky Quotes and Page Tabs and a few splatters of Blazin Black Lindys spray!

F*ck You Rock | Sue Plumb

Hi Flutterby peeps!
Sue here with you all today to share my latest Flutterby project. The layout I created features a photo of my sister and I that was taken during an 80's theme night at a scrap retreat earlier in the year. SO. MUCH. FUN.

And, as you may have already guessed from my post title, this one features my favourite "sentence enhancer", so if you aren't a fan of a little sweariness, then I suggest you look away now! ;)

As you can see, I went mixed media on this one. To create my background I started by adding blue mist using a waterbrush; then I stamped with black ink; and then added some gold mist splatters. On top of all that, I drizzled some white Flutter Colour paint to add extra texture and some doodled stars using the star mini stencil.

Next, I added an Everyday Etc card where I wanted my photo to go (the one I used was from the Super Cool set); on top of that I added some frayed gauze before adding my photo, which I mounted up using some cardboard.

I used a combination of two wood veneer pieces to form my title, along with one of the white tiny sticky quotes. I also used a page tab tucked in behind my photo.

Alongside my photo I added a flair button (from set #389), which I nested on some messy black thread. I also added the you + me die cut from the Mad About You die cut bits and bobs set and a few more tiny sticky quotes.

To finish off my page, I added some of the Confetti Circles wood veneers scattered around my page and my handwritten journaling.

Thanks for stopping by today. You know we love seeing YOUR projects shared with us too. If you aren't already a member of the Flutterby Inspiration HQ group on Facebook, or you are and just haven't shared anything with us, what are you waiting for? Come on down!
Til next time, happy scrapping! X

Live today in all CAPS | Krisy Podolak

Hi, It's Krisy back with my last share for this month.  I have returned to my old faithful collection - "No Excuses" well for inspiration this time.  Yes it's another progress layout.

The story behind this layout is I had been having pains in my wrists when lifting when my trainer suggested I try wrist supports.  A few days later his new stock arrived it and I got first choice of the patterns.  Just as the training said, "I bet this is the design I am going to get stuck with since everyone likes plain colours", I cried out "I want these ones!" We were holding up the same pair.  I wanted them because they matched my new Flutterby Stencil!  (Yep, Crazy Scrapbooker) It's ok, they're kind of used to it at the box. I am regularly covered in paint and taking photos of random things.

So here is my layout.

I kinda lost the stencil in the background but you can see the red and yellow Flutterby Paint matches the Bright Like a Diamond Stencil and the pattern on my wraps.  I also used the stencil as a stencil and traced it.  Brought me right back to the large collection of stencils I had as a kid.  I wish I had them now.

There is no process video this time as I started the layout on retreat and finished it when I got home.  I made quite a few changes to it along the way but I a really pleased with the way it turned out.  I added a whole heap of Snippets Strips around the place that sums up the story.  I used the NEW Live today in all CAPS wood veneer as my title and finished the layout with some tickets and a gold foil flair.

I'm currently working on a few different things and I can't wait to share them with you next month.

'til then - Happy making stuff

Krisy xx

You're My Person | Sue Plumb

Hiiiiii Flutterby peeps! (Yes, I'm excited!)
I am here today to share my latest layout with you using the brand new 'Mad About You' collection. First of all, I have to start by saying I freakin' LOVE this new range. It's bright, colourful, funny, quirky...there is just so much to love! (Not to mention the the new Flutterby products in this range - Die Cut Bits & Bobs and new format Sticky Quotes.)

Here is the layout I created using the collection...

To create this layout, I first started by tearing up some old book paper and colouring it using some mists and a waterbrush. Once dry, I adhered it to my cardstock using Mod Podge, and then applied some Colour Blast Colour Paste through my 'I {heart} you' mini stencil in a few random areas. After that, I drizzled aqua Flutter Colour paint over the top and left it all to dry for a while.
The next step was to apply a bit of stamping with black ink to add some depth, and then I splattered some lime and black mists.

Once my background was done it was time to create the layers for my photo to sit on. I used a variety of the 'Mad About You' Everyday Etc filler cards, along with the 'Mad About You' frame (#47), and one of the coordinating page tabs. My title was fussy cut from one of the 'Mad About You' Everyday Etc cards.

I then used some of the pieces from the Die Cut Bits & Bobs pack and the coordinating Sticky Quotes sheet to add some extra interest around the page. The flair button is from the 'Mad About You' (Set #2), which I nested on some black thread and added a couple of bold enamel dots nearby.

To finish my page I added a couple of the small hearts wood veneers (which I coloured black) and some white Tiny Sticky Quotes. I love how this page came together! (And did I mention I love layers?)

Thanks for stopping by today so I could share this with you. If you haven't already checked out the new 'Mad About You' collection in the store (or the other new range 'Dec Documented 2016'), then scoot over to the store HERE and take a look!
Til next time, happy scrapping! X

Everyday Life | Krisy Podolak

Hi, Can you believe it is almost Christmas?!?  This layout is throwing back to Mother's Day just because that is how I work.  There is no real order in what I do.  I just make stuff when I feel like it.

This layout started off looking a lot different.  It was pink and gold but then I didn't like it and changed it up a bit.  I looked at the embellishments I wanted to use and decided to draw inspiration from that little grey flair button.  So I drew some lines, pulled out my gelatos and changed up the whole colour scheme.  You can still see a bit of the pink poking through but that it all part of the process right.

Once I had painted my background I layered everything else over the top starting with the placement of my photo and working around that.

I used a fussy cut "Everyday Life" from the Midnight range that I had used the border frame for another layout as my title and added some Tiny Word Snippets.  I left the title white so it would stand out against the grey, gold (I {heart} you stencil) and mucky olive colour of the background.

This is the flair that was the inspiration behind the whole layout....I propped it up on a Charms Creations DIY heart that I altered in the same colours of the background to make the flair button really stand out.
