JULY GUEST DESIGNER - FIONA JOHNSTONE 'ADVENTURE'

Fiona is back with her last share. It has been
wonderful having her on board & playing along with us :)

'ADVENTURE'

"I recently purchased the Flutter Colour paints
and the colours were perfect for my photo of the carousel horses at Brighton Pier and a perfect chance to play
with them. I’ve added some stars with the Stargazed
stencil and some gold flecks to create my background.
I used some everyday cards for background on this layout and then added several pieces of wood veneer.
I love it natural but though a few pieces needed a bit of colour added to co-ordinate the colours in my page so have painted a few of them with some Flutter Colour Paint.

'Stitched Circles 3' Wood Veneer

JULY GUEST DESIGNER - FIONA JOHNSTONE 'EXPLORE'

This month's Guest Designer is the
lovely, Fiona Johnstone.

Here's a little bit about Fiona:

"I live in Sydney with my two kids, Zane 10 and Lily 9 and our crazy dog Harry 2 ½. I’ve been creating traditional 12x12 layouts since I was pregnant with Zane so about 11 years! More recently I have started creating PL pages particularly for holidays so I was THRILLED to be able to create this month using the fantastic new travel collection – Any Direction."

'EXPLORE'

Naturally I went straight to my travel photos to
decide which to create with and decided to scrap a
selfie of me at Stonehenge. This was my favourite place to explore on my recent trip and the fab 'EXPLORE' wood veneer title was perfect. The 3x4 'Journey' card left room for journaling, so I chose some cute phrases from the 'Sticky Snippets' sticker sheet. Love the 'Not all those who Wander' flair button and combined with some enamel dots were perfect to finish off my layout.

Flutterby Products Used:
'Explore' Wood Veneer
'Bold' Enamel Dots
'Green' Sticky Snippets
'Any Direction' Everyday Etc Cards
Flair Button from set No.394
Small Heart Stickers

I'll be back to share some more layouts from Fiona soon.

Nap | Sue Plumb

Hi Flutterby lovelies!
So happy to be back sharing another of my Flutterby creations with you today.
You know how kids fall asleep at the most inopportune times? And in the weirdest positions? Yep, that! This is one of my boys that I snapped recently...

I used the 'I so need a nap' card from the 'One of Those Days' Everday Etc cards set as the title for my layout. On top, I added a flair button (from set #249), which I nested on some cotton thread. I also tucked a page tab alongside my photo.

I used a couple of snippet strips in my journaling (words that I am sure other mums can relate to!) I embellished the card with a cute heart house wood veneer, which I coloured using my trusty white posca pen; and another flair button (from set #92).

I also added a mini camera wood veneer (again coloured white), along with a tab from the 'Bright Directions Tabs 3' photo cut outs.
And how awesome does that Flutter Colour paint look swished across the background? I seriously freakin' love this stuff!

Thanks for stopping by today. I am off on a retreat this weekend, so I hope to be scrapping up a storm with my Flutterby stash and have lots to share with you soon!

Ready to Run - by Lauren Hender

Hi Everyone,

Sharing a mixed media layout of my eldest son at the cross country tonight! Boy oh boy this kid loves to run and it was a fabulous that he got to run at the Eastern Creek Motor Sports track with a couple of his buddies.

In this layout I have used some Flutterby: Flairs, everyday etc cards, die cut circles, photo tabs and labels.

I began building this layout by paying around with some watercolor paints for the back ground. Then using the everyday etc cards and a few tags I layered up behind the photo building my focus point. I then added the embellishments and finished off with some extra flicks of paint and some journaling.

This is a fun and easy layout and that everyone should try, and if you have a boy get on over to the Flutterby Designs website and pick up this awesome range called 'Super Cool'.. which it is!!

Fat Funeral | Krisy Podolak

Hi Flutterby Lovelies,
It's Krisy here today to share with you my latest layout using the BRAND spanking new YET TO BE RELEASED range - "No Excuses".   This range is my new favourite.  I am curretnly on my post baby body recovery journey and haven't documented it at all, oh bar the one layout I shared for Flutterby Designs a few months ago.  So, be ready, I think I am going to go on an exercising documenting phase and get these details into albums.  The whole recovery progress has been slow and I am still yet to see the changes I want so I think that has held be back wanting to document this journey but this collection is just what I need to get started.

This is my first layout using the new collection it was inspired by the Everyday Etc Card that reads: "When I exercise I wear all black.  It's like I am going to a funeral for my FAT!" I don't always wear black now but when I first started exercising this was a requirement of my activewear.

On this layout I have used a few of the different Everyday Cards behind my photo.  There is a flair button from the new range too oh and the NEW Neon dots.  These are awesome!

The background it a bit of mixed media inspired a bit by Neet and her style.  I need to add some Flutterby Black acrylic to my collection.  The consistancy of this paint is a lot better than mixing cheap acrylic with water (like I did) and the other plus is that the bottle makes it a lot easier to use.  You can just squeeze it straight from the bottle.

Over the top of the background I have used the NEW "You've got this" stencil as an old school stencil and just traced the words with my posca pen.  It's funny how sometimes returning to old trends can finish a layout nicely without making it look dated.  Actually, it looks rather funky and I love it.

There is a process video that goes along with this layout you can check it out on my YouTube Channel: Popleopod.

BE | Sue Plumb

Hi Flutterby peeps!
I am so excited to be here today for my first share since joining the team officially. So to start you all off, (and for anyone who doesn't know me), I thought I might jump in with a layout that features a photo of...me! *gasp* Like many of you, I don't often scrap photos of myself (and when I do the kids are usually in it with me), so I thought I would cut loose with this one...

I started by creating my background on a sheet of patterned paper from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I used orange Flutter Colour Paint, which I swiped across my page with an old credit card, and then squeezed yellow to create some of the "Anita-style" paint splatters. (I was itching to try this technique with these paints, and I am very impressed with the result - it retains its shape and dimension perfectly!)

I cut out this Dr Suess quote from an Everyday Etc 'One of Those Days' Photo Cards to use instead of journaling. It seemed really appropriate for this layout about me, and I am a huge Dr Suess fan. You can also see where I used the Stargazed stencil to add some doodled stars to my background using a Sharpie pen.

I used some short phrases cut from the 'Cool' and 'Monochrome' Snippet Strips packs to support my title. These are a quick and easy way to add extra words to your layouts by simply cutting them up and sticking them on. (And there are so many to choose from, making them great value too!)

For the layers under my photo, I used a combination of washi tapes; a paper doily; tissue paper; a couple of Page Tabs; and one of the Everyday Etc 'Brights - Filler Cards'. I also used the 'Abstract 4' wood veneer piece (which I coloured black with a paint pen) to the right of my photo to help balance my design.

To finish, I added a cute camera Flair Button (from set #229), which I nested on some cotton thread and a few Enamel Dots. (Because let's face it - what layout is complete without either of those, right?)

Thanks for stopping by today for my first official Flutterby Designs post, am looking forward to sharing many more projects with you all!

Poppies | Krisy Podolak

Today I'm sharing a Design Team Layout for Flutterby Designs using the new Flutterby paints.  I did a DT share a while a go using this technique on a Mail Art Pizza box and I had a request for a process video so I thought, why not kill to birds with one stone.  Here is today's project share and a process video.
main.jpg
Once my layout was created (you'll have to watch the video on how to do it) I added some hand made Satin poppies to make it look more like a poppy field.  Then added a few embellishments and some journalling.  The layout is fairly simple as all the detail is in the background.  These paints are so versatile to use so if you haven't committed yet let me tell you - you are missing out.
Here are a few close ups....

And as promised here is a process video on how to paint some abstract poppies.  Have a go they are easy to do and so pretty. Head over to POPLEOPOD

'#COOLKIDS' by Anita Rodway

Hey hey Flutterby fans!
Boss lady here & I've popped in to share this simple,
but pretty cool layout I created at a retreat of a picture
at a different retreat LOL.

'#COOLKIDS'

I've used the 'Lead The Way' stencil & some medium.
I then grabbed the 'Lime Sorbet' Flutter Colour paint, & added some paint swishes.

Once that was dry, I was ready to finish it off!
I grabbed a card from the 'Happy Together - Filler'
Everyday Etc Card pack, some page tabs
& I used 3 flair buttons.

"11" by Sharmaine Kruijver

What's to do when you have left over paint but to use it up!

So use it up I did.

I've used not one but two Flutterby Stencils
"On The Plus Side" & "Random Blatherings".

Using a wood bit I topped a flair to highlight the birthday month.

And this photo cut-out said all that was needed to be said!

Hope you keep warm and have a creative week.
