I Like You | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone!
Sue Plumb here with my latest design team project for you. Today I have a mixed media layout to share featuring Flutter Colour Paints, a NEW Flutterby stencil and lots of bits and pieces from my Flutterby stash.

I started my page with my photo, which was taken at the Flutterby Designs 'Create by the Lake' retreat last year. (I actually can't believe I hadn't done this one yet!) It features four members of the 2017 design team, along with our boss lady Neet, and was taken at the end of some paint throwing fun.

Inspired by the paint splattered board in the photo, I pulled out my Flutter Colour paints and painted an abstract background. The colours I used were Fire Engine Red; Yellow Zest; Orange Goldfish and Tropicana Teal. (I also used a tiny splash of a Dina Wakley navy paint.)

I then took the new 'Arty Farty' stencil; Staz On black ink and a sponge dauber and applied the words from the stencil around my page. (I used washi tape to mask off sections of the stencil as I moved it around.)
I also added a few torn strips of one of the 'Happily Ever After' filler cards.

Once my background was complete, I cut a piece from the 'Blanket Thief' 12x12" paper from the 'Happily Ever After' collection; and used it as a mat under my photo. I also cut some smaller strips of the same paper which I placed between some of the stencilled words on my page.

On the corner of my photo I stapled a tab from the 'Partners in Crime' page tabs sheet. I also added a white Tiny Sticky Quote; and behind the photo I tucked a cute little guinea pig sticker from the 'Furever Friends' Sticky Quote sheet.

I figured this was a good chance to use up a few random bits from my stash, so I added the converse sneaker from the 'Xtreme Teen' Die Cut Bits & Bobs pack alongside my photo. My title, which I applied directly onto my photo, was cut from one of the 'Partners in Crime' Everyday Etc cards. (This is an awesome range for pages celebrating friendship.)

I took the opportunity to use some more stickers from the 'Furever Friends' Sticky Quote sheet, using the title and some of the word / quote stickers around my page. I also added some Bold Enamel Dots and Rainbow Heart stickers.

Alongside my photo on the left, I added a large ampersand cut from one of the 'Any Direction' Everyday Etc cards; a "rad" sticker from the 'Xtreme Teen' Sticky Quotes sheet; and the 'You Inspire Me' flair button (from set #417).

That's all from me today. Make sure you head over to the Flutterby Designs store HERE to check out all the new goodies in store. There are new stencils and page kits that have been listed, so pop over and snap them up before they are all gone.
Until next time, happy scrapping!

Cool Dude | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone!
Sue Plumb here, and it's time to share another design team project with you. This 12x12" mixed media page was lots of fun to create - which was partly due to the memories it invoked. These photos were taken at the Flutterby 'Create by the Lake' retreat back in July; and it's fair to say that Anita and I weren't the only ones laughing that day.

This page was created using a mash-up of items from different collections, and I am so happy with how they all came together. I started with a sheet of white cardstock and applied a blue watercolour wash using a Colour Blast Colour Shimmer Dust and a wide brush. I added some drizzles of Tangerine Orange Flutter Colour paint to add some dimension and contrast.

Once the paint had dried, I added some extra contrast using stamps from Viva Las VegaStamps and Typo; then some strips of torn washi tape. With the background done, it was time to create the main portion of the layout.

I cut up some Everyday Etc filler cards from the 'Flawsome' and 'Happy Together' collections to create a layered photo mat, along with some messy cotton thread for texture. I also tucked in a couple of page tabs amongst the layers. Alongside my photos, I added the fantastic wood veneer tab from the 'Flawsome' Wood Veneer Bits pack.

The quote (I couldn't have chosen a better one for this page!) was fussy cut from an Everyday Etc card from the 'Partners in Crime' collection. I also added a few white Tiny Sticky Quote stickers around my page.

My cool dude title was created using the cool sticker from the 'Xtreme Teen' Sticky Quotes sheet and the dude wood veneer from the 'Xtreme Teen' Wood Veneer Bits pack. The moustache sticker I added below it was also from the Sticky Quotes sheet.

I created a final embellishment cluster on the right side of my photos using a cog from the 'Xtreme Teen' Wood Veneer Bits pack; the LOL flair button (from set #377) which was nested on some thread; and a few coordinating enamel dots from the Bold set.
To finish my page off, I stamped the date; added handwritten journaling and a few black splatters.

Thanks for stopping by so I could share this with you today. I will be back again with another project to share in a couple of weeks time.
Until then, happy scrapping!

Friends Are the Family We Choose | Sue Plumb

Hi Flutterby peeps!
It's Sue Plumb here today to share my latest design team project with you. Today I have a 12x12" mixed media layout featuring a couple of photos of the boss lady (AKA Neet) and I that were taken at the 'Create by the Lake' retreat back in July. (These photos were taken late at night, when we were channeling our inner Freddie Mercury.) I don't really have to say anything else about the story behind these photos - I think the title says it all for me.

I started this page by brushing some black heavy gesso onto my white cardstock, then smeared some Colour Blast 'Envy' Colour Paste around randomly with a palette knife. Next, I used my Flutterby 'Stargazed' stencil to apply some texture paste; then topped it all off with a good drizzle of 'Green Limousine' Flutter Colour paint. I then set it aside to dry thoroughly.

The next step in my process was to create a mat for my photos, so I used an assortment of Everyday Etc filler cards, which I cut into pieces and layered together. I topped that with some frayed gauze and a page tab before mounting my photos on top.

I then started adding my embellishments to my layout. I used the friends are the family we choose wood veneer (unfortunately no longer available) for my title, which I painted with 'Tropicana Teal' Flutter Colour paint, before adding some white highlights with a paint pen. Above it, I added the let's flock together Black Tiny Sticky Quote.

Alongside my photos I added a small cluster that included the awesome ticket from the 'Xtreme Teen' ticket pack; the hashtag sticker from the 'Xtreme Teen' Sticky Quotes sheet; some messy cotton thread and a cute camera flair button.

Below my photo I added the parental advisory sticker (also from the 'Xtreme Teen Sticky Quotes); which I framed with a large wood veneer circle (coloured white with a paint pen). I also added a few other painted wood veneer circles to my page to help keep my design balanced.

The quote in the top right hand corner of my page was cut from one of the 'Partners in Crime' Everyday Etc cards (THE perfect set for funny photos with friends!) I then added a Charms Creations handmade star; a few star stickers from the 'Xtreme Teen' Sticky Quotes sheet; and some scattered enamel dots.
To finish off, I added a few stamped phrases, the date and a few splatters of mist.

Thanks for stopping by today so I could share this with you. If you think you might like to join in on the fun at the 2018 'Create by the Lake' retreat, registrations have already opened! Head over to the Flutterby Facebook page for more details.
Until next time, happy scrapping!

Partners in Crime | Sue Plumb

Hi Flutterby peeps!
I hope this find you all well! Today I am sharing a layout using pieces from one of my favourite Flutterby releases to date - 'Partners in Crime', and a photo of two of my best friends and I. This one was snapped last year at my 40th birthday party and as you can see, we really have no boundaries when we get together.

I started this layout by creating a custom background using the Flutter Colour Paints. (I love how perfectly every shade coordinates with the Flutterby goodies!) I simply used an old credit card to swipe some paints around my page (drying between each colour) and then drizzled the pink colour over the top.
You can also see where I used a couple of page tabs tucked in behind my photo.

This collection was made for my friends and I! We often talk about our "shenanigans", so as soon I saw this quote on one of the Everyday Etc cards, I knew it had to be a feature of this layout.

For my title, I used the Partners in Crime wood veneer piece, which I coloured black with a Posca pen. I also added the cute "together" flair button (from set 389) onto the corner of my photo, and nested it on some cotton thread.

To finish off my layout, I added some of the Confetti Circles wood veneer pieces to add some subtle dimension to my background. (I also coloured them black to coordinate with my title piece). I then splattered a bit of black mist and some stamping.

I love how easily this layout came together. (I also love that there are so many cards in the "Partners in Crime" card set to help me get through my pile of inappropriate photos with my friends! haha)

I will be back in a couple of weeks to share another of my Flutterby creations with you. Until then, happy scrapping! X
